As I've read on, I've noticed a lot of things about Alice while exploring her diary. Alice has just started to have an eating disorder because of everything going on in her life. Her breakup with Roger triggered this, and she's very lost and insecure, and I think she probably feels like she doesn't have complete control over anything. This is why she turned to an eating disorder. After researching eating disorders, I've found that most people with eating disoders feel as though they have absolutely no control over their lives. Alice didn't have any control over the situation with Roger, and she definitely doesn't have control over the fact that her family is moving away because of her dad's new job. This is really hard for her because she can't do anything about the things that are upsetting her. Therefore, she is turning to food as a way to control things. Alice is really stressed out about leaving her grandparents and leaving her home, and she really doesn't know how to deal with it. I believe this is why she's turning to eating as a way to control things in her own life. Alice seems to be very lost and doesn't quite know who she is or how she fits in. She says "she is most herself with her diary," and she doesn't feel as though she really fits in well with her friends. I think this is why Alice is so quiet and unsure of herself and being self destructive. She really has no idea of who she is or who she wants to be and it's making her crazy. She's turning to unhealthy ways to try and fix things, and I have a feeling, in the end, things are only going to get worse.
