So far, throughout the first part, the book hasn't really captured my attention that much. However, I feel as though it will pick up in the future. I have high expectations for this book because I heard it is extremely intense, dramatic, and interesting so I'm waiting to see some of this because right now it's kind of boring me. I am also aware that this is a real diary, and not every part of someone's life can really be that incredibly interesting. This part talks about how "Alice" just buys the diary, and she's really excited to start writing in it. She meets some guy named Roger that she really likes a lot, but he rejects her. It's the typical, same-old, teenage broken heart story. So far, this seems like a typical teenage girl's diary. I don't like how this is so cliche, and the diary doesn't seem as though it's really going to be anything that interesting or special yet. After all of the drama with Roger, Alice finds out that her dad found a new job and they're going to be moving. She's really excited about it and can't wait to go somewhere else, and to get away from highschool. Something I do like about the beginning of the book is that I feel as though I can kind of relate to Alice. In ninth grade, I was always worried about trying to fit in and find a guy and have the charmed highschool experience, but in the beginning it didn't really work out for me. Overall, so far I'm kind of bored by the story, but at the same time, I think that any teenage girl who reads this book can relate almost immediately. This makes me want to keep reading.
